Fresher’s guide to get into Mphasis
So before we go into how to crack the interview. Let’s first understand a little bit about the company. Mphasis is ranked 161 on the Fortune 500 list as of the year 2020. It was founded in the year 2000. It was founded by two people Jerry Rao and Jeroen Tas. It has it’s headquarters in Bangalore , India. It was initially acquired by Hewlett Packard in 2008 and then was later sold to Blackstone Group in 2016. It is a publicly traded company with NSE and BSE (Symbol: MPHASIS).
Interview Process
So now let’s look at how the interview process is at Mphasis. It mainly consists of 4 rounds.
Round 1- The AMCAT exam
The Amcat exam is an exam which tests you on 5 topics:
- English Comprehension
- Quantitative Ability
- Logical Ability
- Computer Programming
- Computer Science
All the questions will be MCQ based questions and there is a threshold for each section. You should pass all the sections.
Round 2- SWAR Test (VOICE):
The SWAR test is just to test your english. It would be done through a phone call where you will have to listen to a paragraph or conversation and then answer a question related to it by pressing a number on your dialpad. The second part would be to talk a few minutes about a topic which they will provide. You will be given some time to prepare what you are about to say. You will recieve a score based on your performance out of 100. You will have to score above 60%.
Round 3-Technical Interview:
The technical round generally consists of 15–20 minute interview with a tech interviewer where you will be quizzed on Basic Java, OOPS questions, SQL, database related questions and some questions regarding your college project or personal projects. It will also involve some questions where you will have to write basic algorithms such as sorting or searching. The languages in which you write are flexible. The tech interview is looking to see if you can be trained and does not expect you to know the answer to all questions. So be genuine and answer all the questions as honestly as possible.
Round 4-HR Interview:
Finally after passing the technical interview you will be asked to sit with an HR. The HR interview will be brief and about 5–10 minutes of conversation time. The HR asks standard HR interview questions such as:
- Tell me about yourself?
- Why do you want to work at Mphasis?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Some questions regarding Mphasis to check if you have done your research.
After that they will talk about some policies in Mphasis and checks if you are fine with those.
After the HR round is over you can expect a result in 2–5 working days.
Training Phase
After you are offered a job and you accept then you will be guided to the Mphasis Learning Academy where you will be trained in different domains. The training lasts about 3 months. It is fun and you will enjoy this period. You will be paid during training as well). The training will consist of various modules and will be taught by a professional . You will be trained on various tech stacks such as:
- Java
- MySQL
- Angular
- Java advanced
- .NET
- QA Testing
After each module there will be a MCQ test where you will have to pass with 60+ % marks. If you fail to do so you will get a second chance the next day. After all the modules are completed then there will be a final project which is a team effort which has to be submitted and a final exam which consists of questions from all the modules in which you were trained in. Based on your results you will be deployed in various projects and various locations of Mphasis offices.
